I grew up reading Maira Kalman, author of such perrenial classics as "Sayonara, Mrs. Kackleman" and "Chicken Soup, Boots." Following a monthly illustrated blog she did in 2006-07 called "The Principles of Uncertainty," she started absolutely fantastic politically (Obama)-themed blog called And the Pursuit of Happiness for the NY Times in 2009.

My image of her when I was a kid was of a dotty New York Jew obvlivious to the world around her, totally engrossed in writing and illustrating books for me, and other kids, to enjoy. This series proves otherwise, but stays loyal to the kid in all of us.

  1. your blog is too intelligent for my liking. please add typos and slang. i dont like feeling like 'thats what she said' is intellectually inferior.
