Toronto woman charged with witchcraft

  1. So, the comments on this story on the UPI website make two good points: 1.) Her claim to be his dead sister and make him tonnes of money and cure his cancer through "witchcraft" and Tarot readings is not very different from the "heal through prayer" crowd, or the Church of Scientology. Why is she being targeted while CoS still harasses people on Yonge Street and wacko fundamentalist Mormons live in B.C.? 2.) Shouldn't there be a law against dumbass lawyers being too stupid to realise that their are being had by their secretary and then suing said secretary and pressing arcane criminal charges?

I say, sounds like advertising: we pay people to give us images and objects that embody what we want to believe about ourselves. This guy wanted to believe his sister was sitting across from him and he would be cured of cancer, and he had the money to give to someone who could make these dreams come true. If that's a crime, Bay Street and Fifth Avenue should watch out!

  2. Wow, my brain is so fried that I committed a terrible grammatical error, and one of my pet peeves: mixing there, their, and they're.

In this case, my post above should read: "realise that THEY'RE [as in, they are] being had by THEIR [as in, possessive] secretary..." Man, that's embarrassing!
